Moving is an expensive and time consuming procedure. The supplies can cost hundreds of dollars even for a small move if you are buying them from regular moving supply companies. These places have kits that have various types and sizes of boxes for moving as well as the supplies you need to make moving easier.
That is not to say you cannot find these same supplies at a much lower price by buying them from small companies and wholesalers. You can get discount moving supplies from a variety of places and cut your costs more than you may realize.

Smaller moving companies often offer discount moving supplies because they will purchase imperfect supplies from wholesale companies. Imperfect does not mean that they are no good for moving, it means that the company name or logo may have been printed in the wrong color or font and the original company rejected using the boxes. Big Names
Large moving supply companies can also offer you some discount moving supplies when they buy in bulk and when they resell moving supplies. Many such companies offer to buy back their boxes from people who have purchased from them when the boxes are still in good condition. They also buy back things like bubble wrap, packing paper and rolls of unused packing tape. This way the person who made the original purchase benefits from getting a bit of their money back and you can buy the discount moving supplies without having to go out of your way to find shops that may offer lower rates.
Getting them Free
There is no better discount than getting something for free. You can talk to people you know who have moved recently and get their moving supplies for free (or at least at a discounted price) just to take them off of their hands. You can also visit stores on the day they receive shipments and get their best boxes for free.
