Moving Supplies: Edge Protectors

As part of the moving process, moving supplies are required. Moving supplies facilitate the moving process as they are used to accessorize, add extra protection, or finish the actual packaging. Among the different types of moving supplies, edge protectors play a prominent role.

They have assumed great importance over the years and are well known for their role in protecting and preserving furniture. Edge protectors provide great protection for various tables, e chairs, dressers, bookshelves, cabinets and other furniture with a frame that can get damaged in the course of a move.

Using Edge Protectors

Edge protectors can be placed easily along edges or around the corners. You usually find edge protectors in packs of 16 (12 inch) flexible, heavy-duty pieces. Edge protectors are usually made of paper, corrugated cardboard or 3-ply recycled paper. They prevent scuffs and nicks and keep possessions spotless and secure. Edge protectors are ideal for any wood or fragile furniture, pictures, mirrors, electronics, speakers and computers. Edge protectors are very economical, multipurpose and reusable.

Once the edge protectors are placed on the sharp edges of tables and other furniture items, they are held in place with tape or stretch wrap. If you are using tape, it should not be placed on the finished surfaces. There are different types of edge protectors available to suit different types of furniture, including:

These edge protectors have grooved channels to center the strapping, prevent slippage, and reduce load shifting. The measurements are 1" x 1" x 1 7/8". They tend to prevent damage to tightly strapped shipments.

The measurements are 4" x 4" x 1".

In the moving supplies field, edge protectors have proven to be a good and dependable necessity. 10By using edge protectors, all types of household furniture and electronic goods have an extra safety net. Most moving companies and retail stores specializing in moving supplies will stock different types of edge protectors to suit individual needs. If you opt for moving kits based on the number of rooms or bedrooms in your home, edge protectors are included.
